FAMILY HOUSING SERVICES

The Family Housing Services department is made up of housing for families with children, pregnant women and youth who are at-risk of becoming homeless or homeless living in shelters, vehicles or on the streets. Family Housing Services also provides supportive services such as HELP’s Diaper Bank and Energy SHARE- Southwest Gas utility assistance.

BY ANSWERING THE QUESTIONS ON THE QUESTIONANAIRE DOES NOT QUALIFY YOU OR PUT YOU INTO HOUSING. YOU MUST FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES SET FORTH TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. HOUSING IS NOT IMMEDIATE.

HELP’s Diaper Bank
The diaper bank is for parents/guardians experiencing a need for diapers for their children age newborn to 3 years old. The assistance is once a month. and is offered at two locations. Parents/guardians are required to bring their photo ID, social security card and any proof of birth such as birth certificate, crib card or custody/court documents if you are the guardian. Along with diapers, parents/guardians will receive wipes and other necessary items available. Free cars seats and pack-n-play portable cribs are available by taking a 45-minute workshop. Energy SHARE
A program made available through donations for low-income Southwest Gas customers experiencing an unexpected financial hardship. Assistance is provided to qualified Southwest Gas customers with the payment of their gas bill and/or emergency repair or replacement of certain natural gas equipment.  To qualify you will need the following: 

  • Identification for all adults in the household.          

  • Social Security Cards for all adult members in the household. (A benefit letter from Social Security is not acceptable.)

  • Southwest Gas statement. The name and address must match the household member’s ID. 

  • CURRENT GAS BILL - **PLEASE SEND ALL PAGES OF YOUR BILL** If ID address does not match bill – utilize lease, bank statement or government assistance letter (all pages of any document must be submitted).

  • Statement of crisis. This is the statement on the application that explains the client’s situation.

GIVE HELP

On any given night there are roughly 200 formerly chronic homeless families, youth and pregnant women in Family Housing Services program beds. Every client enters housing with very little personal belongings if any. We strive to make every housing clients’ house a home. Here are the items most in need for our clients.

  • Household furniture - no used mattresses accepted

  • Bed Sheets - Twin/Full/Queen

  • Bath Towels

  • Room Fans

  • Brooms/Dustpans

  • Cleaning supplies

  • Sponges

  • Cookware sets

  • Dish sets

  • Cups

  • Cooking utensils 

  • Winter gear - hats, gloves, scarves

  • Summer gear - hats, sunscreen

  • Sealed formula

  • Bottles/bottle brushes

  • Diaper/Rash Cream

  • Baby bathtubs

  • Baby hygiene kits and baby washcloths
