Weatherization Income Qualifications
Overview
The Weatherization program assists low-income households occupied by seniors, physically challenged, and homes with children. HELP has been nationally recognized by the United States Department of Energy and has received the Governor's Initiative Energy Award.
Examples of assistance residents receive include installation of solar screens, weather stripping, blowing insulation, repairing broken windows, and testing of gas appliances. Heating and air conditioning evaluations, refrigerator efficiency checks, and other energy saving devises may be installed.
An assessment by a trained weatherization staff is done to determine the needs of the property. Housing categories are owner occupied single family homes, mobile homes and condos. Rentals with landlord/owner approval are allowed. HELP weatherizes between 500 and 700 units per year which equals thousands of dollars in savings for clients, money that can be used toward necessities like food and prescriptions.
