Overview:
The Department of Social Services is comprised of 3 main Divisions -The Division of Emergency Resource Services (DERS), The Division of Homeless Services (DHS), and The Division of Family Services (DFS).
DERS - Division of Emergency Resource Services
DERS is an essential link between people needing services and those providing
them.
The program addresses the immediate needs for basic survival by providing rent & utility assistance, clothing
vouchers, food vouchers, gas coupons, toiletries, blanket and etc.
Emergency Resource Services
DHS - Division of Homeless Services
O.U.T.R.E.A.C.H. (Organizations United To Reach Educate Assist Chronic Homeless)
This program is contracted by the County to perform two functions:
- Mobile Crisis Intervention Team (MCIT)
- Intensive Case Management (ICM)
Homeless Services
DFS - Division of Family Services
- A New Path (ANP) - funded by the City of Las Vegas and provides rent and utility assistance for up to 12 months.
- Emergency Single Parent Housing Program (ESPH)- funded by the County and is a 30 to 60-days emergency program to assist single parents.
- Baby First Services (BFS) - provides links to care for at-risk families with babies reducing the rates of low birth weight and infant mortality.
Family Services
All of these programs are designed to prevent homelessness to those at risk of becoming homeless OR assist those who have been homeless over
an extensive period of time.
